At Tigard Playschool, parents and teachers work together as a team to create
a safe and secure environment in which our children learn and
grow. Parental involvement is crucial to the overall success of the
school and a co-op allows more involvement than a traditional
school. At Tigard Playschool, parent responsibilities include:
Parent-Teaching: |
Under the guidance of the teacher, parents help facilitate activities, assist
with safety control, playground supervision and cleanup. While in
the classroom, parents get to observe teacher/child interactions and watch
their own child's growth and success.
|
Meetings: |
By attending mandatory general membership meetings (3) and mandatory class
meetings (2) throughout the year, parents will be well informed,
receive parent education and have ample opportunity to voice concerns,
offer suggestions or ask questions.
|
Committees: |
Every family has an active part in the school operations by serving on a
committee or holding a position on the Board of Directors. The
choice of committees/positions varies widely and every effort is made to
match a family to the committee or position of their choice.
|
Parent-Teacher Training: |
At the beginning of the school year, family members expecting to parent-teach
will attend an orientation to learn expectations, techniques and teacher tips
to help foster a successful transition into the new school year.
|
Fundraising: |
To help keep tuition costs down, each family is required to raise $200.00
per child for the school year. Several fundraising projects
are offered to help families reach this commitment. Buy-out
is available for families choosing not to fundraise.
